Students in Years 7 and 8 learn about health, medicine and related sciences at this Heartbeat event for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.

The event takes place at Western Sydney University's Campbelltown campus and begins with a local elder delivering a Welcome to Country. The students then meet their guides for the day - Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander university students who are studying health-related degrees.

There are four different workshops which the students rotate through during the day. They’re also given workbooks with information, and questions to answer.

Parents and carers of invited students are very welcome to attend the event and should indicate they'll be attending on the permission form sent by the school prior to each event.

Interconnections was first run in 2015 and will be run every second year. (The other Year 7 and 8 event, Many Channels, runs in the alternate years).
